Whenever someone talks about some of the toughest competitive exams like NEET or JEE, we immediately imagine students studying all day long without having any kind of fun. There are some exact ideas attached to these competitive exams which might have been true a few years back, but with a few changes, it is time to break these myths and misconceptions about competitive exams.
Some of the top myths about competitive exams are:
Myth 1: Cracking Engineering or Medical entrance exam is like a rocket science
Most people believe that only toppers can crack competitive exams like JEE or NEET. This is one of the greatest myths. Your dedication and hard work are all that really matters when preparing for such exams. A student whose performance is average can also crack these exams if they stay motivated.
Myth 2: Coaching Institutes can help crack the exam
Students pay lakhs on expensive coaching institutes due to this myth. While going to a good coaching institute is beneficial, self-study also matters a lot. Even if the coaching institute is good enough still you will have to take out time to study and work hard on your preparation then nothing can stop you from cracking competitive exams.
Myth 3: Studying from as many books as possible increases your chances of clearing the exam
Different books by different authors will only confuse you. You should study from some of the main books like NCERT and use just one or two books for reference. You should focus more on solving sample papers and mock tests as they give you a better understanding of the exam.
Myth 4: More study hours means better performance
Every student has different ways to study and prepare. There are some students who can study for 2-3 hours and clear the exam while there are some who might study all day for the same. The number of hours you study do not count when you are preparing for the competitive exams. As long as you stay 100% focused on your study, cracking competitive exams won’t require extensive study schedules.
Therefore, avoid these common exam myths and you will surely hit the exam!

How to score good marks in aakash test series
Hi Renu
Thanks for sharing your query. Hard work and consistent efforts are what is required for excellent results. So in order to get outstanding scores you need to work with complete dedication. Study from the CBSE books and the Aakash study material which will help you to crack the exam.
My daughter got 215 marks in Neet 2017 without any coaching . With the aim to get more marks she joined one year course at Aakash AnnAnagar Chennai , with all coaching she could score 250 in Neet 2018 only 35 marks enhanced for one year coaching. This is due to no individual attention at Aakash , her class strength is 65, ( RM -9)test result will not publish immediately , test questions not discussed by concerned faculty members . Poor stuff faculty is one reason. (correspondence course studied faculty member is handling classes)They never encourage Tamil faculty members. Frequent change of subject teachers, quarrel between Tamil and Andhra staff members.. coaching fees I paid one lakh thirty thousand.
Hi
Thanks for sharing your query. Can you please share the student details such as Name, email id, PS Id to make it simple for us.
You are right, students have so many common myths about the toughest competitive exams like NEET. Thanks for mentioning all those in this article. Students must come out of these old myths and stay focused on studies. Myth 1 says cracking this exam is like a rocket science, definitely its not. Anyone can clear this exam. 2 & 3rd Myth says that coaching institutes and studying books will help in cracking the exam. Whatever it may be, self study with dedication is a must. Students can solve previous year question papers & also attend some online mock tests that aids in clearing NEET exam. And your 4th Myth is right as study hours don’t make the difference, only thing is one must understand and keep in mind whatever he has studied in that hour.
