Recently there was an interview held with an Indian Express, MHRD Minister Ramesh, in which he said JEE Main will possibly be held in June. He continued by saying that by bearing in mind the current situation, the safety of the students is more important than anything else, which is why the examination was expected to take place in the last week of May, now this is likely to be postponed until June.
When asked to provide more detail about the JEE Main and NEET, the minister says this decision is taken by consulting with all the stakeholders (NTA, IITs, school boards, and other agencies) all involved in the logistics operations, all are consulted before making any final decision and announcing the new dates. Based on this argument, the question that now arises in everybody’s mind is whether or not the JEE Advanced 2020 will be carried out. Rumours have circulated in the media that this year’s IIT admissions may be based on JEE Main.
In addition, when questioned about the semester exams in universities and colleges and the admission process in colleges, the minister continues that a committee has been set up for this purpose to deal with all the examination issues and the admission process. He also reported that the new academic session is bound to delay due to the current situation in India. All final exams will be conducted by the universities until the lock-out is complete. While thinking about the old batches, after the reopening, they would have their semester terminal exams and classes for the next session will start immediately. The admission process will start later and this is expected to last around a month.
Heading on to the online exams, the minister said that all the guidelines and aspects under UGC will be released on the basis of recommendations. He said the ministry is working very hard to meet every single student who has no access to digital media. While there is already beaming content on the Swayam Prabha channel, All India Radio and some other initiatives are being put together with the states to ensure that the most helpless and oppressed students are not suffering.
