NTSE is a scholarship exam funded by the NCERT that awards meritorious students a stipend up to Ph.D. level in Social Sciences, Basic sciences and Commerce. The award aims to promote higher education in India and to give financial support to those endowed with intelligence but lack the means to fulfill their ambitions. Here is a List of Things That You Must Know About NTSE Scholarship Examination.
Eligibility: Any Indian national of class X is eligible to appear for stage-1 of the exam. Any Indian foreign national studying in class X is eligible for stage-2 of the exam.
Scholarship: An amount of Rs.1250/ month is given to students of XI-XII. An amount of Rs.2000/month is given to undergraduate and postgraduate students. PH.D. Stipends are given according to the UGC norms.
Examination Pattern: The exam is conducted in two parts- Stage-1-The state/UT conducts the exam at stage-1. The state/UT nominates students for the stage-2 exam at the national level.
NTSE Stage-2 Exam: While the exam pattern remains the same; this exam is conducted at the national level. Note-The marks obtained in the Language test will not be considered in the final merit. Mere qualification in this paper is sufficient.
Qualifying Marks: The qualifying marks are 40% for general category students and 35% for SC, ST and PH.
Reservation: The seat reservation goes as follows-
a) SC-15%
b) ST-7.5%
c) PH-3%
