Intrigued by numerous possibilities offered by engineering and medical, there has always been a huge surge in the number of applicants for engineering and medical entrance examinations conducted across the country. With an increase in the competition, there is no doubt that the applicants need to work a lot harder to reach their goal.
In consonance with that, it cannot be denied that every journey begins with the first step. And the first step towards realising your dreams comes with ANTHE (Aakash National Talent Hunt Exam), India’s most popular and one of the largest scholarship exams conducted by Aakash Institute. A brilliant score in ANTHE not only ensures a chance to win up to 100% scholarships and cash awards but also gives you an opportunity to enrol with Aakash that helps you prepare for the coveted exams up ahead.
Speaking of that, let’s look at the following tips that can leverage your chances of cracking any exam whatsoever.
Don’t skim, Scan the question
Often due to anxiety and in pressure to complete the paper in time, students tend to rush through the questions, overlooking essential information. You should, thus, avoid skimming and instead scan through the question paper. A thorough and meticulous reading of the question can help you register the key information, thereby enabling you to focus on what is asked and ignore extraneous information and proceed directly to determining the correct answer.
Coordinate with the clock
Competitive exams are all about time management. You might know correct answers to all the questions, but if you cannot solve them in the assigned time, there is no chance of you making it to the top. It is, thus, imperative to keep an eye over your watch so that you don’t spend more time than planned on any question.
Don’t get stuck, move on
Every second is crucial during the exam and you need to make it count. You should be careful while attempting the question paper. If you find yourself stuck at any time, the correct exam strategy would be to move on to the next question rather than wasting time on solving the same question again and again.
Confused among the options, try elimination method
In case of doubt, try shifting your focus from locating the correct answer to eliminating the wrong options first. The process of striking off the options which appear totally wrong can bring you closer to the correct option. You may not only hit upon the right answer but also save your precious time.
Be cautious while marking the OMR Sheet
Often students linger on the marking of the answers and do it in the end. Consequently, they are left with no time and end up marking the options incorrectly. At the same time, marking the OMR Sheet after every question is also not a good idea. The best time to mark your answers is probably after every section or maybe after every 10 questions. In addition, partially filled or marking multiple bubbles for the same question should be avoided at all costs. In order to rectify the common blunders, every time you attempt a mock test make it a point to mark your answers on an OMR Sheet.
Intimidated by lengthy or difficult questions? Don’t fret, Just face
Going past lengthy or difficult looking questions is a common trend among students. Often students perceive that these questions would be daunting and take up much of their time. However, they fail to realise that they might actually be very easy to solve. Procrastinating the questions at times leave students grasping for time in the end, thereby losing on major marks. You should, thus, try to logically and analytically approach the questions, before simply going past them.
Confidence is good. Overconfidence is bane
If you believe you can, you will. Confidence is a great thing. It helps ward off anxiety and fear and instils immense positivity. With confidence, you can definitely take up challenges with more certainty and a positive mental attitude. Overconfidence, on the other hand, can be a menacing threat. It can lead to a drastic failure as students tend to build walls around their mind, thereby restricting their thinking abilities. They incline to take things for granted, overlook studying the question, feel no need to check their answers or see any point in revising.

My daughter missed the first online fortnightly test of Aakash by mistake… Are the marks added or something? She won’t miss any other test. I’ll make sure of that. Is it a problem that she missed one test?
Hi Sushmita Ji,
Thanks for sharing your query with us. Aakash fortnightly tests are for the practice of the student to make him/her familiar with the main exam pattern but the ultimate goal is to crack the NEET/JEE Exam. So, it’s not a problem. But we would suggest you to attempt as many practice tests as you can for your own benefit.
I am in class 9 and i paid for mock test but unfortunately whenever i am trying to go for mock test it is showing class 10’s tests and sample paper. So, how can i get mock tests and sample papers for class 9.
